Posted on Sunday, 10 June
I don’t know exactly when it happened. One day, it just became apparent, I just realized that my Sundays had become my day to run errands.
That’s OK I guess. But then why does that bother me so much?
Sundays used to be effervescent. They were light (both in weight and in appearance) and occupied with things to do. But not “things” in the sense of chores, they were more like adventures to embark on. I don’t know. Not so contrived and predictable, I guess.
I am completely to blame though. I’ve followed the patterns, fostered the habits and been a willing participant. So then why don’t I change that today? How about we hop in a car and drive somewhere! Get out of the city and see something different.
Because, seriously, I NEED to go to Costco. We are out of toilet paper. I can’t just go to the liquor store and get a 4-pack, KNOWING I could put those funds towards a 100-pack, or whatever the size of the Costco pack is.
I also need a new dish strainer cuz I threw away my old one. It was gross. DON’T ASK! Haha.
I guess what I’m getting at, is that the echo boomers have reached (or are reaching) an age that is not always filled with adventure, but with responsibility - and that’s OK too. I’m not writing this to lament myself and feel bad. On the contrary, I’m saying I’m cool with running errands on my Sunday. It’s not about waiting for it to stop raining; it’s about learning to dance in the rain. I gotta go find that Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupon too. Gotta go. Bye.
